Blagrave Play Area

Project Background

The existing equipment in the playground had reached its end of life and the council saw the opportunity to replace each item in the play area. The playground consisted of two play areas aimed at different age groups.

The theme of the play area was based on the history of  the explorer John Blagrave who the park was named after. In the decision making process of what children wanted in a play space- HAGS had understood the brief. The local community was also able to have an input of what they wanted in the play area by voting for their favourite designs. HAGS had took this into consideration and the outcome was successful.

Jilly Saunders, Area Manager for HAGS, said: “We are delighted that the HAGS design was the most popular choice amongst the local community and Reading’s Accessible Play Task and Finish Group.

“Our design team thoroughly enjoyed working to create the best possible solution that met the needs of Reading Borough Council and the local community.”

The play area features high quality inclusive play equipment which makes the play area an invaluable space for children to play. From pieces such as swings, uniplay, a roundabout, springers and much more…
