Snowley Park, Peterborough

Fenland District Council were keen to remove their small existing play area and create a play area which could be accessed from both sides of the Snowley Park housing estate. The surrounding land offered great space and natural hills, which HAGS designers creatively integrated into the new playground design.

For younger children, aged two to six, a diverse range of play equipment was included in the design. From a Unimini multi-unit, which provides climbing and role-play opportunities, a Roty roundabout, a lovely selection of rockers, a custom-made 1.75m mound with a slide and other play features to help children smoothly transition between zones as they grow. Ground graphics were also incorporated into the eco-mulch rubber surfacing.

For older children, aged seven to fourteen, the centrepiece is a large 4-metre space net with a slide tower. This unit provides various play opportunities, including climbing, sliding and balancing. The zone is further complemented by a large Titan 5-arm rope swing, a see-saw, an NRG trim trail and two spinning bowls.

Over 6 play units make this playground inclusive for all abilities. One of the key pieces is the Mirage Swing seat, which boasts an ergonomic design and is great for children who need extra muscular support. The popular Roty roundabout and numerous play panels allow all children to burn off their energy and stimulate cognitive activity, regardless of individual ability.  The mix of all these items together have created a playground we are very proud of, where we can bring all children together.
